About Me
I am passionate about placemaking, and believe wholeheartedly that homes are the creative launchpad to what brings us the most joy and makes us the most powerful in our lives. Whether it be your passion for cooking delicious meals for your family, writing short stories, or crunching numbers, I believe that a home should support you in the day-in and day-out of getting into your flow and achieving your dreams.
I started my adventures in real estate when I became a homeowner at the age of 23, and I’ve lived in that same home for nearly 20 years. Homeownership has been a steady and exciting journey of building equity toward my family’s financial freedom, and my home is an external reflection of who I am.
Within the walls of my home, I composed 5 full-length albums of original music with my band, Sarah Grain & the Billions of Stars. I raised my three children. And when I was grieving the loss of my father, my home restored me and strengthened me. My home was, and continues to be, my springboard to a rich and fulfilling life.
From very early on, I knew that the improvement of neighborhoods and communities was going to be my north star. Born and raised in Indianapolis, I attended North Central High School, and at Indiana University I created my own major in Urban Studies and Community Development. I was fascinated by cities and wanted to work in a field where I could help people develop a strong sense of place within their physical environment as well as strong bonds with their neighbors, banding together to create a more sustainable future for their communities.
After graduation, I began my career at Keep Indianapolis Beautiful (KIB), where I stayed for 8 years and worked as Director of Community Engagement and Volunteers, growing the volunteer-led Adopt-A-Block program by hundreds of volunteers, and partnering with communities across the city to increase their neighborhood’s tree canopy through KIB’s NeighborWoods program.
My years at KIB were paramount to my profession as a realtor, though I didn’t know it at the time. Being in charge of neighbor-based volunteer programs around the city brought me into every zipcode of Indianapolis, and every neighborhood.
When my children were young, I left the workforce to stay at home with them, and it was at this time that my husband and I bought a double across the street from us and transformed it into a mix-use long-term and short-term rental AirBnb.
Being a stay at home mom, I leaned into my role as property manager for these rentals, and discovered how much I love placemaking and hospitality as it relates to real estate investments! We’ve since expanded our portfolio to include a property in a place very beloved to us - Ubatuba, Brazil - where have two AirBnB’s that we can visit and enjoy the natural beauty, beaches, and culture. A fun fact about me: my husband and three children are all Brazilian citizens! And if you are looking for a vacation, you can check out my AirBnB Profile page to learn more!
What sets me apart from other realtors is this: Born and raised in Indianapolis, I have an intimate connection with this city … not just the built environment, but the natural one, as well as the vast communities of amazing families, neighbors and businesses that make it so special. And because I am both a homeowner and investor, I can help you see where your assets can help you most align with what is most important in your life.
